Where We Are in the Story
Immediately before this, last supper: new commandment and warnings carries the story through John 13:18-30. Here, in Jerusalem at the supper table, after Judas departs, Jesus speaks of glory, commands love shaped by His own love, warns Peter, comforts troubled disciples, and declares Himself the Way, Truth, and Life. He promises another Helper and gives peace that the world cannot give. The story then moves into jesus' farewell discourse, part 2 (John 15:1-16:33).
